LPA certificate provider and witnesses
An LPA needs more than the donor’s signature. GOV.UK says the forms must also be signed by the attorneys, witnesses and a certificate provider who confirms that the donor understands what they are doing and is making the LPA by choice.
Everyone must sign the same original document. GOV.UK says copies or digital signatures cannot be used for this process.
- Check the signing order before starting.
- Choose a certificate provider carefully.
- Do not rush the donor if there is any capacity or pressure concern.
- Expect mistakes to delay registration.
